Ensure that our children learn, experience, and live the Gospel.
CHILD CARE
Child care
for infants to three-year-olds is provided for both Sunday services and
throughout the morning, with a special Bible story time during the services for
two- and three-year-olds.

ELEMENTARY
Worship is best learned through experience. Children ages four through fifth grade are invited to attend worship each Sunday with their parents and families. The children attend the first portion of the worship service and leave the service during the second hymn with their Sunday school teachers for a gathering time downstairs. Gathering time is an opportunity to share prayer concerns, express joys, celebrate birthdays, and collect an offering. Children then go to their graded classes.
Each week our teachers help our children experience stories and messages from the
Bible appropriate to their maturity through lessons, discussion, and activities
in the Exploring Faith curriculum. We learn about God's love for us and how to share
the Good News.
The Children's Choir meets Wednesday afternoons as part of Wednesdays at Westwood from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in Hoffman Hall. The choir sings occasionally during Sunday worship, each year in the spring musical, and in the annual Christmas musical celebration.
MIDDLE SCHOOL
The WPC Middle
School Group gathers every Sunday during the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. services. Middle school students are invited to attend the first part of the worship service with their families and are dismissed to their class during the second hymn. Our middle school Sunday School uses "FaithZine,"
part of the Exploring Faith curriculum, as a guide for group discussion and prayer.
CHAOS (Christians Hyped about Our Savior), Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m., is the new middle school ministry at WPC. Our goal is to confirm and reassure middle schoolers, while giving them spiritual support and encouragement. And, of course, there is time for games.
HIGH SCHOOL
|
Wake-up J.U.I.C.E. (Joyful Unity in Christ's Example) meets Sunday mornings at 11 a.m. Senior high school students come together for a devotional discussion as the group discovers how to 'wake up' as Christians in the world.
Fusion, the high school ministry at WPC, meets Thursdays at 7 p.m. This ministry helps students pursue, reflect, nourish, and deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ. For fun the group enjoys lock-ins, playing broom ball, and scavenger hunts with other churches.
YOUNG ADULTS GROUP
Wednesdays
between 8:00 and 9:30 p.m., college students from several schools, including UCLA, USC, and Santa Monica College, gather for an in-depth Bible study or book discussion. This group offers support and a place for Christian fellowship for those at the university level.
ADULT
|
Adult Ministries at WPC run the gamut from theological inquiry, spiritual formation, and in-depth Bible study to opportunities for service. These activities build community and promote outright FUN. Throughout the year we enjoy
seasonal activities such as our Celtic Night and our annual Christmas potluck and
carol singing.
Want to read, study and discuss theological and faith issues?
We have groups on Sunday mornings and weeknights, ongoing and short term. A WPC-sponsored trip to Greece and Turkey, "Retracing St. Paul's Footsteps," has offered a unique Bible study venue in 2007.
Want to become better informed about current issues?
We have forums that address everything from homelessness to Medicare D interpretation.
Want to travel further on your spiritual journey?
We have weekend retreats, one-day retreats, and small group discussions.
Want to explore the creative side of God's gifts?
We have ongoing groups such as poetry and film discussion and one-time events such
as museum excursions.
Looking for fun in all the right places?
We have quarterly potlucks, Hollywood Bowl events, and fellowship for both the young
(thirtyish) and the rest of us (forty plus).
Physically inspired?
We have softball, basketball, and volleyball.
Feel called to serve?
Join us on a mission trip.
CHILDREN & FAMILY PROGRAMS
|
Wednesdays at Westwood and Children's Choir: The mid-week program for K-5 children takes place during the school year on Wednesdays from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in Hoffman Hall. JK Hilbert leads the group in music before a snack, crafts, and fun lessons with Michele Hauser and Marie Nelson. See old friends and make new ones after school at WPC! Questions? Contact Greg Halterman at ghalterman@westwoodpres.org.
Potluck dinners: This quarterly fellowship event is for all parents of children and youth at WPC. This is a great opportunity for "grown-ups" to gather for an evening of food, fun, and fellowship, while sharing their journey of parenthood.
Annual family retreat: The retreat takes place in June in the San Gabriel Mountains. This weekend getaway provides the perfect occasion for families to explore God's love through worship, study, and play.
Special family activities: There are numerous opportunities for family fun and fellowship at WPC. Each year an Easter egg hunt, family picnic, Christmas pageant, and potluck are some of the events that enrich family life at WPC.
See News from WPC and the church Calendar for more information on activities at WPC.
